Why We Should Win The Peoples Choice Award

OWC is a collaboration of Allied Health Therapists and Holistic Therapists in Campbells Bay, North Shore Auckland. Est. Kings Birthday (5th June) 2023 by me, Jo Boardman. Post Covid and a redundancy from my full time position as a Purchasing and Supply Chain Manager, I felt a calling to change direction in my career. An avid runner at the time and often suffering aches and pains, I had a desire to become a Physiotherapist. Unfortunately, with my family commitments, I couldnt afford to study this full time and not work. An alternative option presented itself in the way of an online course in Massage Therapy with block courses spread throughout the year over weekends to get hands-on and practice our learnings. This meant I could study full-time online and work from home as a massage therapist as well. I did this for 3 years whilst studing for my bachelor's degree. Post study I was eager to get my dream of the clinic underway. I was petrified and had a lot of practical help and support from family and friends, but essentially I opened a clinic; and that was very self satisfying but much more than that, it has helped so many people with chronic pain and injury already. I started OWC with myself, the degree qualified Sports & Remedial Massage Therapist, a Chiropractor and Yoga Instructor and we have already evolved now to have a Headache Specialist, Counsellor, Midwife, Scar Release Specialist, a very special and specialised Oncology and Lymphoedema Massage Therapist and a Life Coach as well. We are a year old and loving our premises, in house referrals and team work , but much more than that, we are loving the difference we are making to peoples lives by being able to work colaboratively, recognising needs as they arise. The centre has proven to be an excellent option for independent operators to come together, out of their home clinics, where they could have been working in isolation. The centre has provided a community for us all, a referral platform, a team environment but allowed the independence and accountability of still being a self employed professional working hard on their own business to remain. A perfect balance. The space, an old gas station, is shared between us all and works really well for our needs and those of the local community. We have polished it to be very professional and welcoming. We are the only business in this part of town and have been well received by the local community, who have continually shown their support for our work in helping them. It was a much needed addition to the area and apart from great local support, we are seeing clients from further afield seeking out our services. We regularly have new clients through the doors and are also growing our own society of regulars who love coming to seek out our services for their own personal benefits. Our growing reputation is excellent and our team places high value on this, along with our ability to effectively colaborate on clients and patients for achieving the best possible outcomes.
